Sorry Tale of 2 States!

Joseph Conrad  said "Art itself can be defined as a single minded attempt to render the highest kind of justice to the visible universe by bringing to light the truth, manifold..."
To make the mockery of this statement, the so called biggest selling English language novelist of India- Chetan  Bhagat must have wrote his third novel 2 States!
Recently when I visited book shop in Banaglore, I saw hundreds of copies of a particular English Book was piled up neatly. Quite interested, lookd and bought the novel 2 States written by Chetan Bhagat. I have not read his eralier novel. But going through the novel, I was really aghast. What a novel it is? Who called it as novel?
It reminded me famous lines "Once upon a time... finally they married and lived happly"! But this novel does not even deserves these lines. This a story of a IIM boy who is a Punjabi and his Chennai girl classmate, studied together, got placement in Chennai. The boy tries to woo his in laws and finally they get maried with Bollywood masalas - only disappointment is there is no item song.
There is no logic in the novel, no thought provoking issues. The novelist might have thought that mere telling a story in 267 pages makes it a novel. Really wondering who labelled this as a novel. It is not even worth for a time pass reading. The writer must have thought that what ever he wrote is good. Of course he will be admired by the western newspaper critiques and page 3 writers. But the novel does not even deserves for a reading.
God alone save those who read this novel, including me!

nose for news

Now a days journalists are hungry for news. But very few will have the habit of follow up a story till the end.
In the days of blogs there is hardly any blogger who writes about a subject and continuously following it. Recently I was going through halliyimda.blogspot.com. The Blogger is farmer from a remote village, but vivid reader.
Earlier in his post he wrote about search engines which was started by jews. He also mentioned that to counter the jews search engine there may be a new from muslims. And yes it there and gave the follow up in his blog.
Now tell me how many journalists or bloggers have this habit. Do not come in to a conclusion that you will have more time being a farmer at village. But the farmers will get hardly any time either in monsoon or winter or ?
We have to learn from this farmer blogger who also wrote about his memories of world tour on bicycle.

ಫ್ಯಾಷನ್ Play

Now a days it is becoming a fashion to watch English plays. Whether you are interested or not, to make a point in the social circuit, you have to tell such and such play I have seen. Recently famous play Antigone was performed in Chennai. Of course Nasiruddeen Shah was the star performer. But look at the price tag! Rs 200-3000 only. Now you can easily say for whom they are performing - only for elite people and not for theatre loving persons. Ordinary theatre loving person can not love to sit in the balcony at a far distance from the stage bypaying Rs.200. Then for whom they are staging the play? God alone knows! no God is Dead!

Frost/Nixon

Frost/Nixon Cast: Frank Langella, Michael Sheen, Kevin Bacon, Rebecca Hall, and Toby Jones Director: Ron Howard www.FROSTNIXON.netwww.youtube.com/watch?v=Ibxs_2nDXUc No journalist will forget the great Watergate scandal that forced President Nixon to resign. Frost/Nixon movie that was nominated for Oscar can be viewed as a documentary also. Disgraced American president Nixon (Frank Langella) agrees for an interview with the famous TV personality David Frost (Michel Sheen). Nixon agrees for the interview mainly he thought he would found the key to saving his tarnished image. Frost equally with grit with a name to make and a reputation to overcome tries to nail Nixon. The interview finally changed the face of the politics forever. The movie that can be seen as documentary is a story of truth, accountability, secrets and lies. A must see for film lovers and journalist.
